Summer Summary

I promise essays and you keep getting poetry. It's just been that kind of a summer.

Summer of Broken Things

these blissful summer days with you
as the garage door crumples
fridge stops humming
computer blue, click click click
“Beginning Internal Memory Dump”

our sweet ice cream’s melting
steadfast sink’s sprung a leak
dishwasher rivers snake across the floor
TV crackles, smokes
falls silent

better get outside
better get out
this house is shutting down

Something for Summer

Here is just a little something for summer, since I've been writing quite a bit of poetry over the past couple of months. Jen, Erin, Heather (yes, you!), this one's for you!

Landscoping
summer's coming
girls out driving
warm breeze blowing
boys on display
mowing, planting, trimming
young muscles rippling
tanned and shirtless
try not to swerve
the best time of year
landscaping season
finally is here!
